Adele's dream has come true..
A dream to illustrate a children's book has become a reality.
The new book, Bruce the Bush Rat, written by Chris Dean, will be launched in April 2016 at the Gloucester Art Gallery, NSW.
Adele is a well known colorful identity in the Gloucester area. Always keen to be strongly involved in the arts with her creative imagination and infectious laughter.
Bruce the Bush Rat was inspired by the joy of life in the bush and drawing on the humourous comparisons to city life. The story remarks upon these differences but illustrates the gladness and delight that one has in sharing what makes their lifestyle and landscape special. Through this space of respect and curiosity, an unlikely friendship is born between Bruce and his city friends. The sentiment in the wonderfully crafted words are depicted in a deliciously humorous way by Adele.
Chris and Adele have worked hard to self publish their first book. Their ‘two lady’ team has placed great importance on using local resources, with print production in rural NSW, and all other production taking place ‘in house’.
Both Chris and Adele have a strong love and connection to the Australian bush. Their adventures in the Barrington area and Australia wide have resulted in the wonderful stories in the book.
Alongside her illustrations, Adele has created colorful hand felted wearable art beanies. Her work strongly shows her sense of color and creative imagination. Winning many prizes with her works she's extremely excited to show again her three-dimensional art.
The exhibition, Bruce the Bush Rat, by Adele Compton, will be showing from 26th April to 22nd May 2016.
The Opening celebration of the exhibition AND the launching of Bruce the Bush Rat is at the Gloucester Gallery 30th April 2016, 6.30pm.
